Dont want to burst your bubble, but free is not a good deal on a BSA scope. Bottom of the barrel imported cheap scope. Save a few bucks over time, buy a Leupold vari X series and put it on your 700 rifle. It will make a fine combo that will not fail, your BSA will fog in foul weather and possibly ruin a hunt. It is better to put a good scope on a cheap rifle than a cheap scope on a good rifle.

I have the same scope on my modle 7400 30.06. I have not had no problems out of it. But I live in Alabama it does not get real bad cold here. I think you will be happy with it. I dont buy names I buy what I find that works for me. I took 9 deer with it this year from late evening to early morning. It gathered light good and stayed on target did not fog up at all.

That was the same for my hunting buddy who has hunted with that scope on a 7mm for several years with no problem at all. that is why I bought it. Took it out last weekend to the hunt club to site it in and had a blast.
