Just wondering if anyone reloads. I just started and have done some reloading.

Yea. I've been at it for a guite some time.
How's it going for you?
What rounds are you loading? I stick with rifle rounds and have all my pistol rounds loaded for me, to my specs.
If you take this over to the reloading section. You will get a better response. Not everyone that reloads checks the northwest section.
Yea go toreloading bench i dont know what you reload and fuzzy said he reloads pistol and rifile.. I reload shotgun shells. Mostley for practice with sporting clays, trap and skeet.

Lots of reloaders on BGH, advice, opinions and one of the easiest places to start an arguement.

I reload for my 30.06 and .38 spec. I haven’t shot the 168g cartridges yet for the 30.06. The 158g .38 spec worked well. I'm not sure about the CCI primers not all of them fired the first time. I have some with Win at 148g LWC ready to go next time out. Anybody see any data for HSM bullets?

Hello Frontiersman:
If a primer fails to ignite but will ignite on the second try, it seems like it was not seated properly at the first intstance. Only thing I can think of when you mention "BOOM" on try # 2. I never had a primer fail that I can remember and I used CCl for many, many years
I know how volatile the subject of reloading can be. I'll try to not get too emotional. ![]()
I had the cartridges inspected by three of the range masters. I had to put a little bit of a crimp on the cannelure and seat a couple thousands of and inch shorter even thought I was going for a 1.48 OAL p/specs. These guys know there stuff. My revolver is a cheap Rohm Saturday night special. I’ve heard CCI primers are a little harder. I just don't know. I may have messed up the seating.
I do know I can’t wait for the range to open Tuesday to try again. I am also trying to figure out if my Browning Bar 30.06 likes to chamber Remington brass more than Winchester. I lean towards Federal but Wal-Mart sells Winchester and Remington for the best price.

Ps I just looked at all the other sites including reloading bench. Every time I've been here I have always come to the NW corner.

What your describing with the primer missfire sort of sounds like either a weak fireing pin spring or crud buildup on the spring that doesn't let it function right. Also look for crud around the fireing pin hole in the bolt.
Try taking the bolt apart and cleaning inside real well, the spring, pin and inside the bolt.
Well, your right Don, but if I'm reading him right they fire on the second attempt with routine success. I wonder if it could be a combination of crud and primer seating. A good inspection of each loaded shell should resolve the primer seating question and does this ever happen with factory loads?
Frontiersman: Did this problem ever occur with factory loads. If it does, I'm wrong, If it doesn't, I'm right again.

Better late than never.
I missed the question.
I have shot some real old factory ammo with the same results and am going today to try some more CCI primers.
