Anybody looking to hunt in Kansas

OK. I will study up on the things I need to know to get a permit. I would hunt with the bow if that means getting in on a rut hunt Thumbs up
I am getting some bear hounds this year. I will be training them with tnhoundsman. I am "internet scouting" and talking to some people in different states on where to hunt bear with the hounds. I think it will be at least 3 yrs before I could say with any certanty that I (can) go to a place that I know, and kill a bear without the help of people with more experience than I have. BUT, like everything else that I get an interest in I have jumped in with both feet. I have the radio telemitry, getting the hounds (including a very experienced bear hound to help with training the young dogs), I have been getting into all the hound hunts I can to learn as much as possible from the guys with experience and have been learning bears and thier habitat. I am certain that I can be one of the top houndsman.......I just need some time!
There is nothing (in my opinion) that can compair to hearing the hounds work a bear track and then to hear the race once the bear is jumped.......pure adrenaline Thumbs up

It looks to me like if you want a tag and are a resident you need to have your aplication in by july 14th and if you are a non-resident the deadline was May 31st.
I don't know if that is for firearm only or if that includes archery.
It's $400 for a permit for a non-resident to hunt deer in Kansas!!! Wow. I better practice with my bow A LOT!

$400 - Geeez! We're really makein' friends with prices like that Brick Wall,) Like I said before though I think you would have much better chance and a more enjoyable time with the bow. I'm going to try and stop by the kdwp office soon and get the information straight from the horses mouth. I know resident bow tags are available over the counter. I'm not sure but I think non resident is also. Luckily we'll have plenty of time to find out before next year Thumbs up

Man, I'd love to come up there and hunt with you, but my wife almost left me last year for hunting in Missouri and Illinois....haha. Shame on You!

Maybe we can arrange something next year, though. I'm working on a long-term lease in S. Illinois right now and maybe we could arrange a trade-out.

That would be awesome.

Hey 1978 - Really good to have you on the Forum. Not many people here from KS. I'll have to see how things work out with some other guys, i've gotten lots of response from this post, as you can imagine. We'll definitely keep in touch and see what happens.
We'd all love to hear some of your stories and input on topics. Stick around , there's alot of good guys and gals from all over the place Thumbs up
How much are your out of state tags for Missouri? Kind of stinks living so close to the border and being considered a non-resident. Have you ever hunted in KS?
