I'm not what you'd consider a dyed in the wool whitetail deer hunter, as I've spent most of my time chasing elk and muleys. In fact, I killed my first whitetail buck last year in Nebraska. Lots of fun and some excellent table fare. I'm headed back to Nebraska (without my CU hat) in a week or so in hopes of giving the deer a bad time.
My question is this: How is the rut shaping up in the east / central part of the state? We will be hunting bretween Columbus & York. Are the bucks getting worked up yet and will this mild weather keep things low keyed? Thanks for any help.
