That is a great unit for elk. I have hunted that area before and have seen large elk in there. I would say the whole unit is great with different country. I would find a high peak and glass you will see elk, trust me.

Which hunt? I can tell you from experience that it can make a huge difference where you hunt. It is a great unit.

I drew for late november thanks for the info

The November hunt is a bit tougher. The Bulls tend to be up high and come down during the early morning and then head back up later. Be prepared for bad weather, I've seen it snow a couple of feet there in one day in November. Bring chains! I have never hunted that unit without seeing bulls at any time, but pray for light snow. It makes finding these guys much easier. My advice is for you to go there early to get the lay of the land but the animals will not be where you saw them early. We have seen most of the late season bulls bedded alone in really hard to get to places. Good luck. I hope nobody gets angry about these maps, but no big secrets in this Unit anyway. You just have to get out of the truck and hunt. Good luck!

New to the forum. Just found out that I also drew for late season muzzleloader, Unit 15 NM. Great to hear that there are so many bulls in this area. I've heard there are some real busters in the area.

are ya'll camping or staying in a hotel. have you hunted this late hunt before. i 'm kinda wondering what the weather will be like.

we'll be camping. I've heard that the snow can build quickly in the area, but don't know first hand.
