Any Elk taken this year?

I just got home last night. We shot a couple of spikes and were able to see 50-60 elk a day. The elk are very high and stayed in the dark timber, probably for the shade and coolness. A lot of hunters I saw were complaining of not seeing any elk. But they were there if got in and pushed them out of their beds..

Heres my 5x5 I knocked down yesterday, has some decent width. Girlfriend got some pics at home but lost them trying to download them, hopefully they can be found as I really wanted to show front shot not a bad pic at all for a cell phone A good 5 though. Was by myself and called in for back up to help finish the pack.

Ok, just copied and pasted from my NorthWest home forum

"Shot him at 9am about over 300 yards only becauseothers (6bulls/20+cows) busted me when I was trying to get up on them, this 5 was closest to the top--& he didnt notice the others movin down. Shot, Wounded him, he actually sat down for about 10 minutes, he popped up went into the trees, I waited about 1hr, walked down and across, and up to where he went in, he popped up, ran across in trees, my heart was pumping thinking the worst, is he going to get away. So I set my self up where I can see him almost from all sides, sure enuff, hear rocks fall on other side, he pops up in open, stood lookin my way prob for me. he was about ovver 200 yards, I aimed about 5 in above his neck and boom he drops in his tracks nailed him close to his head. Finally, 10:30, up canyon to get truck, and back down, started work bout 11:15, called for back up around 2pm, bud showed around 4, finished 6:15. Now I'm ahurtin'! and I LOVE IT! lol "

Back to back elk. Small 7x7 bull in first season, then a big cow in second season. My new .264 win mag has been doing great work.

Good elk! i can't wait to get my first elk, i've hunted for elk unsuccessfully for 5 years in a row. i've bagged 2 antelope and 4 deer in that time, but have never shot an elk sad i'm hoping my late season cow tag will finally produce

sorry, just wanted to share my elk frustrations.
