I have been listing to a few the last couple of days but can't get them to come into muzzleloader range. I had one the other day going crazy but he stopped around 200 yards out and wouldn't move a step closer. It's a good thing for my friend in that he sitll has a couple of days to get within range of one of them.

Well we were only in the park
Well we were only in the park for a few hours due to other locations we had to evaluate but we did see some whopper bulls. I was disappointed to not hear bugles though. I guess they are not quite peaking yet up there. Elk Fest is next weekend and I might try to get up there for it.

I was out this last weekend
I was out this last weekend near Basalt CO, and saw two nice bulls and a raghorn. Didn't hear a peap though and when I called them, they were spooked and took off. I think that it should be colder this week, and next weekend they will be out in force.

We heard elk bugle every day of our muzzy hunt for deer.Mostly at dusk and a hour or two after and then again in the morning a bit, with a couple of afternooners. It was windy at times so we probably didnt hear quite a few of them. Then again i have never seen as many elk out hunting as we did last week and the bull to cow ratio was about 1to 4 or 5.We saw one with only one side,a nice 5 or 6 and couple of 350 bulls.

I got back yesterday from a 5 day hunt, we heard 2 bulls, 1 on the first night that we got going and he winded us and blew out of there, the next morning i bugled and got one to fire back, got to about 300yrds and lost track of him. other than that not much rutting activity going on in oregon either. I was kinda bummed.
