antlers

I got a question i got a pair or antlers from this season but ic ant seem to clean it off all the tissue...where we cut the antlers off there is still like tissue and some cartlige.. i heard you can put salt over it.. but it didnt really do anything? do you guys have any suggestions?

Bleach just make sure none gets on the antlers.

thanks il give it a try... will it take care of some of the hair that was left aorund them?.. any other techniques?

Use a hobby knife or other small sharp knife and slice at 45 degree angle to the base of the hair. Then push down along the bone part of the antler base while moving around the antler base and it should peel of like skinning tree bark off a stick.

nice well they are soaking in bleach right now so i guess we wil lsee what happends... approximetly how long do the antlers have to soak for?

Just a day or so should loosen up the tendon/fleshy material enough to be removed with a knife. When the bone soaks for a few days it will be nice and white.

do you think avrage sized 3 x 3 set of antlers will do the job for ratteling?

The rattle bags are just sticks to bang together so a 6 pointer(3x3) should do the trick just fine.

Yeah they would be fine, the rattle antlers I use are a 3x3, but they are resin casts.

what do you guys think about the ratteling bags? do they work good? real or fake ones?

They sound just as real to me and your not as likely to get spotted because of less movement.
