I'm planning on going antelope hunting in Wyoming in 2011. Totally new at this. Someone please give me an idea how to get started!

make sure to buy a point in July, August or Septmber. You can do it online and its only 30.00 i believe. Do it again next year and you'll have 2 point going into the draw for 2011. You can draw good tags with 2 points.

When you apply the deadline will likely be in March assuming that they do not change in the next couple of years.

Hope this helps.

Do you know which unit or part of Wy. you're going to hunt? It's a big state & i encourage you to do a lot of research. No point in wasting PP's on a subpar unit. A good book to read is Mike Eastmans Antelope hunting, he gives a lot of good advice.

Will do. Thanks for the help. I've heard Huntin' Fool is a good helper.

Yes the Huntinfool provides a lot of good information, I've been a member for a few years. Eastmans hunting journal will give you a lot of good info as well but you have to subscribe to get the members research info. Goodluck in your research.

I'm also planning a 2010/2011 WY Antleope/Mule Deer hunt. I purchased Mike Eastmans Antelope Hunting book and subscribed to EHJ. Both publications are great tools for researching hunting areas. The book also goes into great detail on hunting Antelope, well worth the price for someone whos never hunted Antelope or out west.

Kiowa, I encourage you to apply for PP's this summer, they'll help you draw a better tag. Are you planning to hunt with an outfitter or a DIY hunt?

Getting my 2nd point in July. I originally was looking at a guided hunt, but I've decided to take the challenge of a DIY hunt. Looking at Carbon County (Area 62) as the area I'm planning to hunt

That's a good area for sure, gets a lot of attention thou. If you get a chance to read David Longs Public Land Mulies you'll benefit from his advice. One of my favorite reads. I'll be heading back to Wy. next year as well unless my buddy talks me into an archery elk hunt in Montana. I have max points for deer & i might do a back country hunt.

I'll take a look at the book. I picked Carbon County because it has good areas with public access for both Mulies and Antelope. I'm building my preference points for a backcountry Elk hunt, probably my dream hunt next to Goat/Sheep. Thanks for the book recommendation.
