Another scouting trip

Got out for a few days two weeks ago, but couldn't post these until now.  Not sure what was up with the picture posting option, but here we go anyway.  Was trying to find places I could archery hunt without having to commit to a backcountry pack trip this year.  Wasn't real quick on the trigger for shots of game this time around though.

Elk were mostly still up higher than I was looking though-this is in the high 12s:

Storm came in pretty quickly, starting around noon, so it was a 4 hour, very soggy hike back to camp.

Just behind these bucks is public land.

Wow!  I am always impressed!

Wow!  I am always impressed!  That group of bucks looks like it has some really nice potential.  Besides what looks like a couple of really nice 4 points, the 4th from the left looks like it might have a really unusual rack.  Congrats on the successful scouting trip, and thanks for sharing.

Very nice !

Mark,

Great pics as always and good to see you getting out there and getting your homework done !  Thumbs up Thanks for sharing.  Yes

I spent 5 days up in (our) secret little unit the week of the 4th of July fishing and checking things out. Here are some pics of the burned area (with deer standing in it) and I also found some huge elk rubs in the low country (sorry no pics). We seen several good bucks on the edge of the burn areas but being big bucks I was not fast enough to get pics.

I love that area

Great to see it wasn't nearly as bad of a burn as it could have been. I love that areaa and it's good to see that all of that tree thinning prevented that from becoming a far worse burn
