another newbie . . .

I did a quick search of the forum but there's a ton of info here, so I thought I'd resort to asking for help (sorry for being a little bit lazy).

I haven't hunted since I was a kid (in my 30's now), and I'd like to get back into it, but I want to switch to archery. My only experience with archery is with recurve bows, also when I was a kid.

Can somebody point me to some info (maybe a previous post here, or another website) that would help me decide where to start with bows for rookies, how to choose, etc.? I'm ready to do the reading, I'm just not sure where to find it.

Thanks for your help!

Wow where to start. Most compounds are put together pretty well anymore. You would really need to go to an archery shop and do some shooting to find one that fits you. Plus the staff could really help you with hands on questions. Check out the posts Best shooting Bows and Worst Shooting Bows here in archery to get an idea on some of the good and bad. Also check out post about whisker biscut and the post about using a kisser button or peep sight.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting.
Hopefully there will be some more advise soon Thumbs up

No, I won't be hunting at all this year; hopefully I'll get to try deer hunting next year. I still have to scrape up the $$$ for a bow (probably next summer), and I still have alot to learn.

How about you?

VT Moose, No not this year. I've been applying in Colorado and Utah. Hopefully one of these years I'll draw a tag.
