What I really need to know is how will the lack of cars affect the price of potatos. I think if no one has cars. No one will be using drive up windows. Fast food will be replaced by eating at home and the price of potatos will plunge! !! What will this do to the availiblity of american vodka? Will we be forced to endure socialist vodka due to the lack of an Idaho potato crop? This really scares me. I can't endure Michael Moore sober!! That's too much to ask..

So you knew your post.................but you posted it anyway?

Yes I knew the $70 was disingenuous, workers don't cost $70 and no one includes the cost of other workers retirements in the hourly wages of present workers, it's just a way to make it seem like Union workers are overpaid.

Kind of like how the right to work bills are framed as a way to eliminate the secret vote, no one ever ever ever tells the other side. I come from the reality based commuity. There was a new word added to dictionaries a couple years ago, truthiness, it's just this sort of thing that brought about it's invention.

I own an American truck. I move a lot of materials. 140K and doing fine.

Ok, let me help you lil' buddy. The article was pointing out the labor cost which includes medical, retirement, etc.

The point is that when you include all these costs, the cost to build an American car is greater than a foreign car (even those built in the US).

The reason the labor costs are higher is because GM and the others agreed to provide a generous hourly wage and a generous retirement package.

No problem little fella. I know you're just used to getting news from sources that point you in one direction but maybe I can assist you, I've been reading for quite a while. The key words are,

Quote:
for every UAW member working at a U.S. car maker today, three retirees collect benefits

So they are including the cost of pensions in hourly wages. Not payments to a pension account for the workers himself but payments for pensions for already retired workers. Might as well incude the salary of CEOs or the cost of R and D. If the auto companies didn't sock money away to cover pension costs that's thier own fault.

All this splainin gets tiresome to tell you the truth. If you guys would learn to become critical readers you wouldn't be wingnuts in the first place.

Protesters have left the airport I needed to go to and it opened up to flights again yesterday, I'm out of here Tuesday. You all can continue telling each other how rightous you all are and go buy some guns, or you can think about where we went wrong and why we are shedding a half million jobs a month.

I'll be stopping by to lob a bomb every once in a while but I expect you all to start thinking on your own, maybe read a newspaper or something. Even you little fellow.

Now there's a joke -- Civet advocating critical thought. First time for everything, I guess.

Well this is a prime example. I'm suggesting critical reading first, go back, re read, sound things out, and voila, you're reading. Pass that hurdle and we can talk about thinking.

PS is there something about the water up there? Snowmelt? Watching your gov I feel like a rubber necker at a traffic accident. I don't want to be mean and read those stories or watch the you tube, and then ah heck, I just go ahead and do it anyway. Then I feel all guilty for wishing that on the Repugs, and then I look again.

Don't worry "little Fella" time will pass and you'll do better in school and you'll see, you'll be back online in no time at all.

Take this time to E-D-U-C-A-T-E yourself cause a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

You don't know squat about what our governor is doing up here. She's doing just fine, thank you. It's amazing the amount of effort going into spinning her as a "train wreck", but she keeps chugging along reenergizing the base -- which is why the media is so desperate to destroy her. The media remembers Reagan all too well, and don't want to deal with another one.

Alaskans know the real story, which is far different from the garbage the media is peddling to shut her down. She understands that what people want is a rebirth of conservatism that's not afraid to stand up for its beliefs and call out bullies.

It's way to early to say who's going to be lead singer for the Repubican party four years from now. It may be Palin, and it may not. But her style resonates and she represents the future -- younger, more charismatic leadership more in touch with conservative roots. The question is whether the party will transform, or whether the old boys will hang on. Palin has made a career out of shaking people like that up, so there's a strong argument that a lot of leaders in the party want her taken out before she does the same to them. There'll be a lot of behind the scenes arm wrestling going on over the next couple years.
