for those of you that forgot what measure 18 is about, It is the ban of use of hounds for hunting cougar, bear. we are at this time only interested in getting to hunt cougar. we don't want to rock the boat too much. so if you are here in Oregon and would like to see the houndsmen of our state be able to help manage the cougar population, then this is what we are about.

thanks for looking, we hope you will become involved in helping us bring back our houndsmen.

They are talking about this on ifish too. I think that if it's gonna be successful it needs to be approached with an attitude that they need to be controled, and they do, and not that we want to hunt them; or as a guy on ifish said, "it's our right"!. I don't think that will fly. On the other hand the most econiminal way to control them is thru hunting and hunting them without hounds, well, a guy could get awfully hungry at least on the cougar. I have seen exactly three in my 63yrs and I've lived in their country a good bit.

Don,

I have hunted in the Grizzly, and maupin units some over the past 30+ yrs. the trout creek area alone i've seen first hand, in one season bowhunting, more cougar than u seem to have seen in all your 63 yrs. that could be due to the stats, that every 1 time u see a cougar, 175 times a cougar has seen you. I have seen more big cats hunting around the R2 than what you would even dream. in 2004 we saw 4 cougar just in 9 days. not the same cat more than once. the area where you live is abundant with them.

It's not that you can't find them, it's that they are so stealthy and elusive.

I also remember that a cougar was taken in Shaniko. It was seen eating a house cat under the board walk in town. i think that was in 2005
