Normally I don't get too rouwled up over stuff, but I saw something on last nights episode of Amazing Race that left me appauled and will definitly be writting to the show producers about it.
The show sends the teams to Vietnam, to find a clue at the Hanoi Hilton, the notorious prison where a lot of good men were held captive and endured some extream torchure and misery, and where some died.
The prison is a museum now, and there was only one team (two brothers) who had the respect to stop in the museum and pay some respect and homage to those good men who were held there 30 and 40 years ago. They did this knowing full well that they may come in last place. None of the others teams even so much as realized or cared where they were, only cared about getting the next clue. The other teams were just plain pathetic - Sickening!!!!
It's amazing to me how people today are so focused on themselves and winning a race or game that they can't even show some respect to historical sites nor pay any minute bit of respect to those who endured and sacrificed so much for their country and fellow soldiers. I hope that my letter to the producers and network of that show is taken seriously, though I suspect it won't be. The problem with this show is that they are notorious for sending teams to rumage through historical sites just to find the next clue.
My hats off to those two brothers who were willing to come in last place so that they could have a few minutes to show some respect to those POWs who suffered in that prison.
