Amazing Race (possible boycott of the show)

Normally I don't get too rouwled up over stuff, but I saw something on last nights episode of Amazing Race that left me appauled and will definitly be writting to the show producers about it.

The show sends the teams to Vietnam, to find a clue at the Hanoi Hilton, the notorious prison where a lot of good men were held captive and endured some extream torchure and misery, and where some died.

The prison is a museum now, and there was only one team (two brothers) who had the respect to stop in the museum and pay some respect and homage to those good men who were held there 30 and 40 years ago. They did this knowing full well that they may come in last place. None of the others teams even so much as realized or cared where they were, only cared about getting the next clue. The other teams were just plain pathetic - Sickening!!!!

It's amazing to me how people today are so focused on themselves and winning a race or game that they can't even show some respect to historical sites nor pay any minute bit of respect to those who endured and sacrificed so much for their country and fellow soldiers. I hope that my letter to the producers and network of that show is taken seriously, though I suspect it won't be. The problem with this show is that they are notorious for sending teams to rumage through historical sites just to find the next clue.

My hats off to those two brothers who were willing to come in last place so that they could have a few minutes to show some respect to those POWs who suffered in that prison.

I am not defending anything. I actually just did an amazing race in vancouever, bc. Remeber this is a race, and that is why the people are in that race. This local one we did, got way competitive. People want to win. when i was at the different stations i didn't care why i was there, just what do i have to do to move on. Hope this helps some.

I understand getting caught up in the game and how competition take the drivers seat. After all that is the whole point to these races. That's all fine a great. Being that these shows/races exist for this reason (and I'm not blasting the reasons or goals for these shows or races) I think it would be wise if the location managers of these shows/games pick places other than memorials, religious sites, etc.

I recall in the show Treasure Hunters last season that the Air Force Academy cadets team members were very causious at one location not to tip the US flags so that they would not touch the ground (basic flag respect) while searching for a clue. That was admirable and to tell the truth I expected that especially from the Air Force Academy team.

I guess the contestants didn't bother me as much as the producers. The producers were the ones that put them in that position. They normally showcase points of interest in a country, but of all the things to see, why the Hanoi Hilton? Having racers run through such a place to grab a clue from a kiosk is unbelievably tacky as a minimum. Perhaps they should stop and pick up a clue at Auschwitz when they go through Poland.

Gee, Auschwitz? God forbid, as the producers of this show probably and likely had parents who were imprisoned there. I could just imagine the amount of up-roar that would cause if anyone disrespected Auschwits or any other holocaust camp in Eastern Europe or Germany.

Anyway my whole point is that the producers of these shows should not allow places like these to be used in their show. There are just certain places that you don't rumage through without paying your respects.

Well......not quite. I'm not ready to let the participants off that easy. Com'on these people are adults too and know better than that. I understand the whole competition thing, but people need to think too. I've seen other team members think before on their feet in the fog of competition.
