Always check your arrows!!

4 years ago I suffered a very tramadic injury related to shooting my bow.  I had an arrow explode upon release and the tail shaft of the arrow imbedded into my left had.  Which in turn caused 4r hours of surgey(carbon is not detected my an exray) and then many months of hand therapy.

So this is my anual reminder to check those arrows for any defects...better to discard a $15 dollar arrow than spend a small fortune on some doctor bills.  If I can dig up my photos of my hanf after the bandages came off I will post them up.

Be safe out there!!

arrows

Didn't you submit a tip with photos about this at one time? Seems to me it was last summer... you'll have to find that link and post it here as a reminder.

Is your hand back to 100% again? Hope so.

Yeah I did submit a tip with

Yeah I did submit a tip with some photos a while back but I always like to keep it fresh in everyones mind.

My hand I would say it is at 98%...I still think there is a small piece of carbon in my hand that acts up once in a while.  I also have a section along my thumb and index finger finger that has some nerve damage that I still do not have some feeling in.

We found the tip you submitted, here is the link:

Flex Those Carbon Arrows

Glad to hear your hand is almost 100%! Nerve damage is often permanent.

Thanks for the reminder

Thanks for the reminder Goose, I check my arrows everytime i shoot since reading your story. I have really good insuarance but wouldnt mind skipping out on the oain and rehab. Most of us just take things for granted, like our gear wont fail, but in reality an arrow can go at anytime. Hopefully others will take your advice and check those arrows, like you say its better to toss an arrow than spend time and money on the Dr bills and rehab.
