Allen Greenspan suggests nationalizing banks

No I'm not utilizing the truthiness quotient this is for real.

Also ultra right wing Republican senator (is there any other kind) Lindsay Graham

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0209/Graham_Nationalize_the_banks...

It's as if they have sudenly woken up and discovered steam power is more than a theory, what next, health care?

A gentle reminder for those who might have, ahem, forgotten. Greenspan is a Libertarian, and no that doesn't mean liberal, it means let the rich people keep thier money by abolishing government. He kind of helped get us into this mess, now he's real sorry. Claims it was all a mistake.

From your link on Greenspan.

"LOLFed’s goal is to provide accessible economic analysis with a solid dose of humor, provided by your friendly local LOLFederales, Alyx and Jason."

Although your links are questionable as to credibility of fact, I have heard about this on the Radio.
After everything that's has gone on over the past few months I am not surprised that Greenspan would say something like this. Not so sure I would be surprised if he really meant it.
At any rate, this would be another bad idea.

? Got any paticular reasons why? Don't like anonymous blogs by officials within the federal reserve using gangster rap language and economics jargon? Does hearing it on the radio lend credibility?

Only if Hannity says it on the radio !! Evil!

But seriously those are blogs and opinions. You have to take it with a grain of salt especially when there is the disclaimer that there is an injection of a solid dose of humor along with the commentary. The key word in my reply was "Although" meaning that I found the information to be credible even though it was from suspect, opinionated humorous commentary.

Civet is jumping for joy -- calls for socialism in America. Maybe we'll look like Laos one day.

Oh, no!! The sky is falling. We're already nationalizing two a week! Last week it was Silver Falls Bank in Oregon, better go buy some more gunz.

Senators and Congressman seem to be jumping on the nationalize bandwagon in droves, what nutcases, better to cut off ones nose to spite ones face I'd think.

I was watching one of those Sunday shows and I noticed every conservative just stopped talking when Krugman started. How do you argue with a Nobel Laureate, especially when he's right. If only those 8 remaining people in the Repug party had gotten the memo.

PS To tell what Laos looks like first you have to go there, hard if you don't have a passport.

Do you honestly think the people in this country are going to vote Democrat in 2010 if the country nationalizes industry and teeters into socialism?

If so, you have a woefully twisted sense of what Americans value. We treasure the idea that anyone can rise from poverty and obscurity through hard work and earn the fruits of success. The American Dream doesn't consist of working hard so that the fruits of one's labors can be given to those who those who did nothing to earn them.

Our dream is to aspire to purchase an $800,000 house. But paying for someone else's $800,000 house because they bit off way more than they can chew isn't part of anyone's dream -- except the person who wants someone else to fund their stupidity.

People are going to start paying attention, and the Dems are going to overplay their hand. People may not have liked Bush, but they like the way America works. The Dems won't hang on to power if they take away the image America has of itself.

And BTW, I don't need to see Laos to understand Communism anymore than I need to see the Grand Canyon to understand Capitalism.

Well if you can't make it to the Grand Canyon at least take that back road out of Junction over to Moab. Until you've seen canyon country there just aren't many ways to get it, photos won't do. I'd sugget stopping midway getting out of the car, turning the ignition off, and taking a deep breath.

Fresh air can do a lot of good, cleans out the cobwebs.

seems like a trend.
Make sure Sarah pays all her taxes so she can run in 12, BTW what's her favorite color? Gotcha.

Yep...and the Titanic was making great time most of the way across the Atlantic, too.

And by the way, Sarah pays her taxes...she's a Republican, remember? Might want to talk to some of your people about paying theirs. While you're at it, you might want to remind Obama about that $1.74 million he still owes Chicago.

you must have missed the breaking UBS scandal

We're talking 50,000 US tax cheats.

The IRS has had no teeth since 04, lost it's canines earlier in 2000 and 98 but by 04 you could get away with anything, assuming you are filing long form. Wouldn't want to guess what party tax cheats belong to, maybe the party that hates government?

So, in your opinion, it's OK for the IRS to take peoples property for not paying $1000.00 in taxes and $10,000.00 in penalties and interest on $1000.00 tax bill but it is NOT OK for a Bank to take back peoples property that will not/can not pay back the money that they BORROWED from the BANK and used the property as collateral, but instead just pay the mortgage for them and give the Bank money for their bad lending choices instead of letting them take back their property and sell it off at a loss and take the hit on their books like it's supposed to be?
Why can't the Tax cheat get a Bail out also? Oh yeah they can't be Dems cause they won't work for their money they want others money who do work for their money.
Make up your mind. Where do you stand on this stuff?
