Alaska Trip

So, it wasn't on a hunting trip, but I did make it up to Alaska on a cruise.  It was really a great trip full of amazing scenary and unbelievable wildlife!  We also managed a short fishing excursion where we did manage to catch a couple yelloweye rockfish that they cooked into an amazing meal under a tarp on the beach.  Anybody who has the chance, I would recommend taking a trip to Alaska.  I know it was only a taste of what Alaska has to offer, but it was still incredible in its own right.  Now, I need to figure out how to get back up there on a hunting excursion!

GREAT!

Congrats on taking that wondeful trip and then, also, understanding the idea of hunting in a very special place. I took a trip to Alaska in '10 for spring bear, but did not connect. We were on a DIY trip and were dropped off in the bush for several days (10) to hunt and fend for ourselves. I'd figure we were 100 miles + from the closest road. My Buddy from back home had to leave early and I ended up spending 2 days and a night alone in the bush after he left. It was simply wonderful and I am so glad I have all the pics I do and that my wonderful SIL loaded them onto a disc so I might "revisit" my time on heaven any time I want.

Please do try and return, if you can, it is quite an experience for those of us not so lucky to have experienced it before!!

That sounds like an awesome

That sounds like an awesome trip!  Sorry you were unable to connect, but I really don't think that should detract from an otherwise amazing experience.  Besides, that should give you a stronger case for trying for a return hunt.

I am leaning towards a caribou hunt, but with so many other opportunities, it is hard to choose.  Since my bank account will need a couple years to recover anyway, I guess I have time to really think about it.

Alaska Trip

Congrats!  Looks like an awesome trip.  I'm insanely jealous...lived up there for five years and was everywhere from Barrow to Juneau.  Been gone for two years and hope to get back at some point...best place on the planet.  Thanks for posting!

It is an amazing place!  That

It is an amazing place!  That is definite.  We did visit Juneau, and it is nice.  Definitely different than any other state capital.

It was also interesting because probably 80% or better of the "Alaskans" that we talked to were either seasonal, or from somewhere else in the US.  I realize I was in very tourist-oriented locations, but it was still interesting.

Good luck getting back to Alaska at some point.
