Alaska Black Bear

I just got back to Germany from my Alaska Bear hunting trip. It was a short hunt as I tagged my bear the first morning at 8:00. The bears are thick up there, we saw 7 bears in 2 days and I'm sure we drove past a ton of them in the thick brush. I took my bow up there but I ended up shooting him with a 30-06. I didn't have time to do the Alaska bow hunting certification. I learned a few things on this trip and will definitely be better prepared next time. I would like to go back and try again next year for a brown bear. I did get some salmon fishing in after the hunt. The pinks were in thick from the salt water to the end of the streams with tons of them already dead after spawning. enjoy the pictures.

Good luck to you guys this year
Conrad

Congratulations on a great

Congratulations on a great looking bear. Sounds like you had a great time hunting and fishing. Cannot think of a better way to spend your leave time than hunting and fishing. I know form experiance that both a tough and/or expensive to do in Germany.

Congratulations!

Great looking bear. Super fat from all those salmon I would imagine. Where in Alaska did you go? Also did you have an outfitter? If so who? I'm thinking about going back some day. Again congrats!

Healing Hearts

Supper fat from all the salmon and berries. I shot this one in a berry patch. I didn't have a "professional" guide but I did get a ton of help from Alaska’s Healing Hearts. An awesome organization that takes wounded warriors and other veterans on hunting, fishing and camping trips in Alaska.

Not going to make it this year.  I'll shoot the next one with my bow.
