Most excellent post Whelland.

The info in the link certainly helps confirm my belief that Al Franken is a Lunatic.
If I lived in Minnesota I would be looking for someplace else to live. Laugh

That's a great link Whelland, thanks for posting! Thumbs up

They're all good, but I particularly like #5!

Dave Pierre, the author has done a nice job of referencing all his sources - so the disbelievers among us can have a grand time researching!

The bottom line is that there is nothing "fair and balanced" about Franken. He's quite simply an idiot. I have to agree with Jtapia, I'd have to leave if I lived in MN. He's incompetent and an embarrassment - and a big liar!!

I thought Minnesotans would've learned their lesson about electing people for entertainment value when they endured Jesse Ventura.

Minnesota GOP wrote a check for $96,000 to Al Franken yesterday. I guess they needlessly held things up in court. The money is a portion of the legal fees.

Of course everyone knows Coleman lost a long time ago, but the national GOP didn't want that 60th vote. So what we have is Minnesota residents being under represented for how many months? Classy.

Minnesota's lack of representation is its own fault for taking so long to decide this. The sad thing is that the Democrats finally pulled off what they tried in Florida in 2000 and Washington in 2004 -- cherry picking heavily Democratic counties to recount. Find a county that votes 80 percent Democrat, for example, and start going over paper ballots with a microscope. Even if the re-scrub is fair, if you have 10,000 votes and get just 1 percent more counted, that's 80 more votes for the Democrat and 20 for the Republican -- a gain of 60 for the Democrat. That can tip the scales in a tight election.

If they'd applied the same standard to the whole state, I wouldn't have been so bothered. But they only wanted to count certain counties.

And then there was this gem...

Sorry Expatriate, Most of the judges were Republican, and the courts upheld it through many appeals, there was a good fair recount of the entire state including all the absentees and provisionals. Every one knew months ago.

Florida never had a recount, the SCOTUS installed Bush even though a half million more voted for Gore.

Remember we are the Democrats and are into voting on stuff, it's called democracy.

Wow...you covered a lot of ground there.

Discussion about political leanings of the judges in no way disputes my statement that Franken was recounting selected counties that played to his advantage -- just like Gore was trying to do in Florida.

As for the rest...I'll defer to the source you claim to be the paper of record -- the New York Times, which said in November 2001 that Bush still would've won the statewide recount SCOTUS stopped.

Excellent link you provided for us Expat.
I will also offer another that comes from THE news source of the Country, Fox News, that shows a shining example of what the Gore camp was trying to pull off in Florida.
Granted the Florida Ballots in the 2000 Election were somewhat confusing, they were not too confusing for the average person of average intelligence to decipher and cast the vote for the correct candidate.
Still there should have been a better way.

Whether Franken won his Senate seat fairly is neither here nor there at the present, the recounts have been done and the verdict is in but it does cause one to wonder about the outright discrepancies in the "qualifying" criteria that determined "who" the vote went too when it was not obvious on the ballot as shown in the linked story above.

All Minnesotans, be they Republican or Democrat should be concerned and troubled by this. They were obviously cheated out of a fair election.

Another point I would like to make is that a Candidate CAN win an Election even though they did not garner a majority of the "Popular" vote. The Presidential election is determined by the Electoral College vote and different districts have different number of Electoral votes as determined the Census Bureau reported Population of that district. ( see why who controls the Census Bureau is so important now?) It is more important on where you win than how many you win by.
