Advice Needed

All, I'm getting ready for Elk hunting and I'm looking to buy a GPS. Could any of you recommend a solid unit that's in the $200 range? I had a GPS when I previously lived in Wyoming, but that one was about 15 yrs. old and recently died. These new ones seem to have quite a few features I really don't need, like a road map?? I just need a GPS that'll get me in and out of the woods. Thanks in advance!

For what you need you have some options. If all you want is a GPS that will tell you where you've been and show you how to get back you can't beat this one for $99. It does not have any maps but is great for saving waypoints and tracks a path where you've been and show you the path back.

If you want a GPS under $200 that has some topo capabilities this one isn't bad either. It's on sale at Cabela's for $169 right now

I don't own one, but I'm reading rave reviews for the Bushnell Backtrack, plus it only costs about $69.

Thanks to both of you! The Garmin etrex venture was actually the one I've been considering the most. I would like some Topo capability but have no need for highways, freeways, etc. Thanks again.

I have the magellan triton 400, it has everything you'll need and has a sd slot so you can put the maps you want on it. I have a 2gb card and have 3 states on and still only using 1/4 of the memory. when i got mine it was $279 I've seen them for around $225-$250
