Yes, I just heard! Wonder how the Arab world will react. They've been predicting trouble upon his execution. I'm amazed at how quickly they acted. Guess they don't have a death row over there.

Yeah they don't mess around with silly appeals there. Not saying appeals are silly, just the amount and time consuming frivolous appeals we have here in the US.

I certainly will say an extra prayer for our troops over there as they will catch most of the angry fallout from this.
I am glad that it was the Iraqi government that carried out the execution.
Mabe now they can get on with the rebuilding of their country and put this chapter behind them.

They had to execute him. No choice......even politically there was no choice, beyond the fact that it was the right outcome.

Hopefully the troops will not see too much negative fall out.

In retrospect, if saddam had taken the exile offer, I wonder if the war could have been defused in 2003 before it started. In the end the vacuum of power, probably would have still degraded into the secular fighting seen today.

They probably had to act quickly to prevent the pro-Saddam groups from organizing a proper offensive. There is definitely trouble coming over this.

If you remember the first Gulf War, Saddam's troops rolled over when the ground troops came in. This time we attacked Saddam with the excuse we were fighting terrorism and we pretty much named the Muslem's. Good Muslems seem to fight to the death, his son's did. He was found hiding in a hole! The true leaders are hiding in caves in Pakastan and Saddom was just a rally call to the Muslem world. I believe that the leaders that run the Muslem's gave up on Saddam long ago, otherwise why wasn't he off in some palace somewhere or even a cave in Pakastan rather than a hole in the ground? And why weren't the captor's that were cutting heads off demanding the release of Saddam? They don't care about him, never did!

Some people just need a good excuse to fight and the hanging may be it. Think
