The acorn crop looks good so do the beeches :)

in my area here in upstate New York and teh Beech trees are just LOADED with nuts!  That is definitely something to keep in mind while looking for places to put up your deer stand this fall!

good crop may = bad hunting

Problem is that when there are tons of trees dropping a good crop of acorns, the deer do not have to move far to feed and it's difficult to guess which tree(s) they will choose to dine at. It's years when only some trees drop, that makes it good for hunting. The deer will pinpoint and visit those certain trees to munch on their favorite food. I was told that the high winds from storms already knocked a lot of mast down in northern N.E. and the number of bear sightings at baits was down, due to that.
