Accutrigger

I've decided to buy a new bolt action rifle. I'm looking at Savage and Ruger. Ruger appeals to me because they are in my state. I really like the look of the Savage though, and prefer the removable magazine that Ruger does not offer in the model I want. The only thing I am skeptical about is the accutrigger system. Can anyone throw in some first hand input on using it? My main concern is it is one more function that could malfunction. Also, is it comfortable?

Accutrigger

I have a Savage 11gl in 7mm-08 with the accutrigger. It does feel different but is not difficult to get used to. It is very easy to adjust the trigger pull. I think the best way to describe it is it is like shooting with a military trigger. Unlike regular triggers, the accutrigger has two parts. If you look at the pictures, there is a piece that extends in front of the trigger. You take up the slack on this piece until your finger touches the actual trigger. Then as in my case, the rifle is on a hair trigger. It works for me and I have never had a problem with it.

The accutrigger is an excellent trigger group. It is a great improvment on an already excellent firearm value. Thumbs up

Here's a review and a good look at the particular hardware:

I have the Accu Trigger on my 22 mag and really like it. It comes set at the lightest pull(all models I believe) so I didn't even adjust it. But I had to take the stock off to have a good look at it. Thumbs up

The Accutrigger is the best trigger on the market. I have a few Savages and the Accutrigger holds up well and easy to adjust. I say buy the Savage and put the money you save over the Ruger towards a nice scope.

If you don't like the safety part of the trigger you can take it out. Its just one piece of metal.
