While it is possible to kill a deer with even a 22LR, it would not be ethical to use a 9mm pistol. Too much chance of on ly wounding the animal. Even a 357 Mag is considered marginal for deer by handgun experts.

go buy a bow or a shotgun but if you realy want to use a pistol please use something bigger.

Sorry for my last post in this forum about the american jk!! Im just gonna say using a 9mm for deer would be outta your mind like the other posters say use a bigger handgun if any. I say don't use a handgun atall. Do you know that most bows are probably more lethal to a deer than a 9mm at further range Im sure you can kill one with a 9mm but its most likely gonna take you more than one shot why would you wanna torcher the animal.We are out there to take food and use whatever from the animal we can. . I would say the same as muir use a bow.

Well I have killed a deer with a 9mm, but here were the circumstances:
I was driving down a road and saw a small doe staggering around and bumping into things, so I thought it was probably hit by a car. So I took out a 9mm and put it out of its misery, it did take 5 shots though

Hah and that was at point blank probably and it still took 5 shots.
