Here is picture on right of our 12GA FH case next to regular
2 & 3/4" plastic case. All shorter cases can fire in our
long chamber also. I fired a 3.5 inch plastic case with
different powder than shotgun powder, and got 600gr
slug out at 2100 fps. That's 5800 ft lbs from
a plastic case. Ed

cam69-- They don't kick bad, we have guns weighted and
thick pads, like on our NEF in picture, that we lengthened
chamber to take long brass case. Ed

Couple questions.

#1 would one of those be actually legal in a shotgun only state? I mean I know that you are using a "slug" from a 12g but since you are loading them into a BMG case then I just wonder if some butthole Game Warden would give you serious hassle.

#2: How are you able to load a 2 3/4 case into the long chambers (especially when that looks to be a full inch and a half longer) and not get some SERIOUS wobble on the bullet from it being fired 1 1/2 away from the lands? Or are the barrels just heavy smooth bores?

#3: What kind of accuracy can one expect from say that last one you put up? Because if you can show me good answers to 1 & 2 and the first of this one then I may think seriously about having you build one for me (if you can promise it wont make butt-prints on the ground )

My Mossburg with the deerslayer barrel on it performs nicely, but those numbers you put up sound awful nice for a slugger and would (in the right hands) be a good 200 yard weapon with the right bullet loaded for BC and all.

It is a legal 12ga case made out of brass, It has a 12ga rim,
it isn't a bmg case anymore, can't be put in bmg chamber,
the barrels we stamped 12 GA 3 3/4, just like factory stamps barrels
3" or 2 3/4 or 3 1/2, etc. Your just making your own cases,
like if you turn one out of brass, or used plastic, or paper, or
steel or aluminum, etc. The Savage and NEF are rifled and
the long taper cone seems to straighten slugs to go straight,
like shooting shorter ones in factory 3.5" guns. Ideally
I expect that with case fitting chamber perfect , would make little
tighter groups. The Nef is good price, came with 3" chamber,
you can have any smith lengthen to 3.5, and if you reload slugs
with our slower powder loads you can get some great power.
with just the plastic case. Hard to fing guys to make our cases,
you got to use CNC setup for speed, but in future we are
working on getting a company who makes brass cases to
turn some out., which they already have done in 3.5", 3, etc

will be here end of the week.Found this
info on plastic 8ga kiln gun loads, they
load a frangible 710gr slug at 2300-
for 8300ft lbs, load 1275gr hard slug to
1700, 8100 ft lbs. We will outdo those easy
with our non-shotgun powder loads, in
a heavy barrel. We setup an Enfield for 8ga.
In the 87 long barreled gun we will be testing
Breneke slugs. Guys are reporting good accuracy
in smooth and rifled barrels. The pictured barrel
on 87 is smooth and we will see how the
slugs in pic stand some speed.Ed

I'm working with Wayne at AHR to design cast bullets for the 585 AHR, 600 OK and 700 AHR. He would like to provide his customers with an inexpensive bullet for target practice and non-dangerous game. I have ordered molds for the 550 Magnum and one for the 585 AHR, 577 BME, 577 T-Rex. Both bullets weigh 750 grains in a LFN LBT design.

That is a nice looking bullet. Do you just use
alloy or do you heat treat them also. They are same
shape, only bigger, as some 458 ones I tested for
Fusalliere some time ago. They were treated.
You need to get ahold of Rich who is doing the
BME, to see if he'll shoot a few. He likes cast bullets.

I use an alloy similiar to wheel weight and heat-treated to BHN 22. This one was designed for the 577 Nitro. It's a wide flat nose.

I just ordered another mold for a .585 bullet in a Long Flat Nose weighing 750 grains with a heavy bevel base. This bullet has a better nose to feed in bolt rifles. The bevel base will ease bullet seating in a bottleneck or straight case.
