6C Muzzleloader Hunt for Disabled Vet

Hey guys/gals,

Got lucky this year and drew a 6C ML Mature Bull for Oct. Any insider info on that area since I've moved to IL would be appreciated. I've hunted the Caldera before but never 6C. I'll have a popup camper so I guess we can set most anywhere. I'm not in the best of shape since I'm a disabled Vet so areas close to roads would be best.

Thanks guys and let me know if any of you need info after I scout a little.

careyhey, Welcome! I know area somewhat and it was my 2nd choice.I drew 6a 1st rf.Know some locals that might just know a wallow to sit by...near rd. send PM hank

Unit 6C

I've hunted that unit about 7 years ago. it was a good area, especially east of caldera where the fire occurred. can't remember the road but i'm sure the locals will know where the fire in the past occured. I ran into some good herds there. good luck!

I really appreciate the input so far. Great ideas! This has been one of the better forums I've come across.

Do any of you have experience with the external frames? The last thing I want to do is kill a bull and not have the right equipment to haul the meat out. I was looking at Bull Pac products but wanted to get an opinion or two first.

Carey, I have a Cabellas Alaskan frame pack I have used for years,until I got an Eberle J104 now it is only pack I use.I still take frame pack as backup or if help arrives....and that hasn't happened yet.I also used a Dwight Schuh frame pack that was great. And I have been getting some great replies to my inquiry about 6c for you and will forward. We'll meet for a cuppa joe soon...

6C NM

Look for American Springs Road. I believe thats the name. It should be right off the highway. Sorry I can't be more descriptive but thats one road I remember.

Thats a spot I was told of too but locals know too. Get off the rd. and hunt!!! I was in my unit last week and spotted some big boys, NO ONE looking back away from roads
