I used a 300gr. Swift A-Frame to kill a black bear over bait several weeks ago. I shot it standing up, facing me, but it only caught one lung. It passed through, but the bear went nearly 400 yards. It probably wouldn't have gone so far if we hadn't jumped on the blood trail so quickly. I won't take that shot again. I'll go for a sure double lung. I think that a 240 gr. bullet is a little light for black bear, even for short shots over bait.
Let me start off by saying I am not a farmer.
I am a deer hunter and I do own a tractor and have all of the equipment - but that does not make you a farmer any more than standing in the garage makes you a car - well, you get the picture!
Having said that - and with most of my ineptitude fairly well hidden - I do think that buckwheat is one of the most under rated cover crops out there.
I say cover crop because I see mixed results as it relates to the deer eating the plants.
