4th Rifle DIY Colorado Success

well after an unsuccesful 2nd rifle OTC last year and 18+ days of hard fought but ultimately unsuccessful 2014 archery, and with ae good information from this blog, I am proud to say I bagged my first elk. Hiking this cow out was exhausting but man I can't wait for a freezerfull of delicious meat! Thanks to Critter and everyone else out there that lended thier advice!

Congrats, great job!!

Congrats, great job!!

Just saw your other post about going up near woods lake area.  Is that the area you ended up hunting?  If so, how were the roads in and out with all that snow?  I was going to hunt around there in 1st season, went camping up there the weekend before and it had rained a lot the previous days, and it was a soupy mess!!!  At the last min. we decided to hunt in unit 45 instead, but I thought that woods lake area was really an awesome area (scenery-wise at least, as I didn't see any sign of elk at all when I was up there).

Nice, congrats! On a side

Nice, congrats!

On a side note, anyone else fooled by his thumbnail photos in the post???? Right now, i look at them, the top one is some animal through a spotting scope.  The bottom one is a mule deer buck laying dead.  But when i click on them, and the big photo comes up, it's the correct ones of him and the cow...... Odd, maybe a cache problem.......

Congrats!

Congrats on the meat in the freezer!

The thumbnails tricked me too.  I don't think I have seen that on this website before.
