35-40 inch muleys.
I know they still exist here in Colorado. I missed one last year opening day of 3rd rifle season (he was 36-38 inches wide). I have only seen one muley in my life that would go a true 40" and that was back in 1993.
In the past 8 years of hunting the same unit I have seen 4 bucks that would go between 32-38 inches wide. So yes they still are out there at least in Colorado.

They are still out there.
They are still out there. Every year hunters take bucks with 35"+ antlers. As far as one with 40"+ they are out there also but more rare. In my 50 years of hunting I can only say that I have only seen 4 or 5 bucks with antlers that were 40 inches wide. The first one I was 17 and took 4 shots at it, my brother in law who was next to me took 3 shots and we both missed. A little bit of buck fever was going on. The others were during off season scouting trips. Now the last one I spotted from a half mile away 3 years ago. He was standing next to a 4x4 with 24" antlers and he made the 4x4 look like a fawn. By the time I had gotten into rifle range all that was left was the 24" buck and I let him go. He trotted over the hill side and was shot by some other hunters. That's how I knew how wide he was. The big boy was never seen again that hunting season.

Every year here in Colorado I
Every year here in Colorado I see pictures of bucks over 30" and a couple of years ago did see one killed that did just break 40". As for myself the widest I have ever taken was right at 27" and I've probably only seen one that would break 30. Those are truly massive bucks and maybe I would even see more if I could make myself hold back a little more and stop pulling the trigger on the smaller ones. I would have had no problem taking the 24" buck that critter mentioned in his post. Maybe someday I'll change to being more of a trophy hunter but for now I'm happy with whatever I get.

saw one pushing that this weekend
Certainly a booner, maybe not quite 35", but getting pretty close to there. There are plenty of good deer out there, don't get hung up on whether or not one 30 or 35 inches, or even 25 inches.

I have seen one Mulie with a rack that may have threatened the 40" mark. I doubt I will ever have a chance to take him as I do not want to hike him the 15 miles out. We spotted him in a basin near the center of the flat tops about 3 years ago while backpacking. What a sight!

Trust me, if i see a 4x4 that
Trust me, if i see a 4x4 that is over 25 inchs and is close even for me to take i will. But i was just wondering. I know here there is a lot of deer between 30 -35 inchs just got to find them. Not sure i how i will hunt this year. It all changed 8 days ago when my area i am going to hunt burned and is still burning. I know there was some deer pushing 33 inchs but i have been watching them for 4 years and now have to find them in the next 2 months. At this point i guess any legal buck will work.

They are still here!!
I agree with everyone that they are still here, you just have to look for them! I also agree with elkill that they are definately still in colorado as I seen one today scouting for elk . I really kinda wanted to kick myself in the head for not putting in for a archery tag as I have been seeing more bucks than normal this year. Im more than happy with my rifle tag though as its a better hunt. Anyway here is the buck, he was with another buck that I would guess was about 25 inches or so because his antlers were alined with his ears. My bro and I guessed this buck to be about 33-35'' as the antlers were atleast 5-6'' past the ears. These pics don't do justice, Sorry for the crappy pics as I took these pics with my i-phone threw my binoculars!! How wide do you guys think he is ?

great job getting those pics
It's really hard to tell in those pictures, but looking at pic#2 I'd say you and your brother could be in the right ballpark. I know the saying is that the ears are supposed to be 24" wide, but I don't think thats truly the case, especially when they are pointed forward like they are here. Still, the antlers are close to 5-6" outside his ears on each side, meaning he ought to be over 30" regardless. At least by my reasoning.

Here where i am going to hunt
Here where i am going to hunt i have already seen some deer with spreads that are around 6 plus inchs outside each ear. maybe this will be a good year. thats if it ever stops burning here in my unit. I might have to hunt in my back yard. Hope my homeowners don't mind.

Besides that 31 1/2" buck i
Besides that 31 1/2" buck i shot in Colorado last year there was a 3x4 i passed up the day before that was over 30" and he was actually bigger horned but i wanted a 4x4.
Now 7 years ago in Nevada i seen a true monster that was in the 40" range and i shot three times at him, then watched him trot off. Now looking back at the situation i should of put him to bed and stocked up closer for a kill shot but i was just to amped up.
