I have been shooting a 338mag for a while and if I'm correct a 325 short mag is almost the same gun. What are you wanting to hunt? I can tell you that a 325wsm will kill just about anything, but it will cost you a little more cash and a lot more recoil than many other capable rifles.
I have been shooting white tails up here in Maine for 12 years with my 338mag. It is overkill most of the time no doubt, but I haven't seen to much waste when it comes to the venison, I have tried to use 200 and 210 grain bullets. I don't know about you, but I enjoy having a rifle that earns a little respect from it's shooters.
