I would bet that's even more unusual. I know that was available in the custom shop during the late 90s and early 2000s(stainless and wood, unsure of when they began and dropped 300 RUM), but I think it was also available briefly as a production item in stainless and wood. I bought mine in 2002. Is yours called the stainless sporter?
And I've also had people tell me that Winchester never made these, but they just tend to be overopinioned, underinformed types.

The "classic" part just refers to the fact that it is not a push feed, but a controlled round feed of late manufacture. Not the "Pre '64" models. Post a picture of it, including a close up of the barrel markings, or tell me whether or not the cross bolt is real or just a black dot in the stock-that will help tell whether or not it was a custom.

Custom shop rifles and Super Grades usually had a bolt behind the magazine box, for looks mostly but on hard kicking rifles it's supposed to help strengthen the stock. Many Winchester Sporters, including mine have a fake BLACK, not white, dot to imitate the look of the real thing. It's cheasy as hell, and now Remington is putting two of the stupid fake dots on their walnut stocked guns.
The new Winchesters have it too, check out link of Sporter and magnify picture:

Then check out link of Super Grade to see real thing:

This should tell you whether yours is mainstream production or custom, or super grade (but I doubt those were ever produced in stainless steel)
