30-378

I am ready to start some new loads for my 30-378 Weatherby with a 200 gr. LRX and Retumbo and a Fed 215m match primer. Since there is not any real load data for this Powder or bullet in 200 gr, I am going to start at the high end of a 300 ultra load I have for the same components. 92 gr. and work up. Do any of you see a red flag with this starting point? My current load is 180 gr tsx with 107.5 gr of retumbo .

O don't even have any data

O don't even have any data for it. When I started my 6.5x06 there wasn't much data around and I did a lot of thinking before just sticking in powder and bullet. Don't remember just how I did it but think I worked it out from 25-06 and 270 loads. Make sure you start fairly low for the 30-378. If I had data for aa different powder, I'd probably use that.

I did

Find a load for a 200 gr AB with 105.5C load with Retumbo. I am pretty sure I am not going to get 105.5 to work for me with the 200LRX as it's length is larger or longer, just for the fact it is copper bullet. I loaded some last night from 94 gr- 104 gr. I will just work with the chrony and start low with the loads. When I see signs of pressure I will back off. I have backed off with some different loads when signs of pressure started showing up and my velocity went up. How that happens I have no idea. Thanks

200 LRX

Went out and shot today with the new loads. Started at 94gr retumbo and worked up to 104gr. 104 gr. ran out at 3210 fps with slight pressure signs on the primer. I will load some more @ 104 and check accuracy out to 600 yds. So far looks good and little or no difference @ 100 yds from my 180 gr. TSX. About 1.7-2" high and dead on horizontally. Fed 215m match primers and 104gr. of Retumbo.
