30-06 wiht red dot

yea im getting a pump action 30-06 and i want to put a red dot on it, just another gun for the collection. But do you think the red dot scope being no magnifacationg if not very little is a good thing??. I mostly hunt in a close quarter area with the farthest shot being 100yrd. I like the idea of this gun, but do you think it would be better putting a scope with magnifacation on it?

No magnification is needed for 100 yard shots, unless you have some eye condition that would necessitate it.

Good point !!!
Every rifle I own has a scope. 1x4, 2x7 and 1 with a 3x9. The old eyes aren't what they used to be.
The 30-06 is a high powered round. At close range, with heavy for caliber bullets and iron sights, it's an accurate, hard hitting stopper.

yea i know no magnifacation is needed, i was just woundering if im wasteing the power of the gun by adding this scope limiting its use (distance accuaracy wise)

It won't hurt to have a low power scope, 1x4, 1x5, 2x7 mounted on a rifle used for close range. There may be a day when you wished you had it. If your shots are going to be over 100 yds. It may be a good idea.
