I just got back from our elk hunt and it was pretty disapointing -- only one cow for the whole camp. I go to school in Fort Collins and have not hunted anywhere in close proximity to the town. Does anyone have any suggestions for a chance at a meat bull within maybe 50 miles of Fort Collins. I've heard Cameron Pass can be alright and drove over it on the way back from our hunt but it just looked real thick. What about the comanche peaks. I really have no idea. Thanks in advance for any help.

What tag do you have? The statewide bull tag isn't valid anywhere on the front range. You'd need to have a 20, 7/8, or 9/19/191.

Yeah I just realized that and am going to have to try unit 6. I haven't spent any time there so I'm not very confident. Have you spent any time there.

In unit 6 you xcan hunt around Michigan Res. Heard some good things in the past. be a good place to atleast try out. there can be alot of moose traffic though.

In area 6 try pinkam mth and camp creek just N of walden! Came back from 2nd season and this area will be good for later season hunts!

Just got back on a quik day and half hunt in unit 6. We hunted partly in Elk Mountain STL, Three Sisters STL, and the Colorado State Forest. No luck on elk. Very little pressure though. Lots of moose. A dumbass shot a moose but turned himself in. The DOW charged him $700. Not enough for being that stupid in my opinion.
I did talk to a guy that said Michigan Res would be good. It was too late at that point... camp was set and time was limited. Thanks for the sugestions all!
