270,280 or 30-06

OK inferior in which way? its the Same cartridge, Just a different bullet.
As mentioned in another forum, a 30 06 180gr power point as compared to that of a 150gr power point 270 IS comparable. As the 270 has a Higher sectional density causing it to HAve MOre or as much Knockdown as the 30-06.

If your Constant need for heavier bullets or more selection is not satisfied with that of a cal such as 270 then yes get the30-06.

"Choosing the 270 Win or the 30-06 is a personal preference, even though the '06 is more versatile" (147 Grain).

Since you want technical rather than general info - the 270 Win is technically "inferior" because the mass of its bullets is smaller. Generally speaking, I don't dwell on this, as I match the bullet to the game - not the caliber to the game.

I like both calibers, but prefer the venerable 30-06 for more flexibile options. Nothing wrong with the 270, just that ammo manufactures offer more load / bullet combinations for the '06 - that's all.

I am Saying the same thing. Only I KNow that A .270win can knock the shoulder off a Bull moose at over 150yards and I am confident with "MINE"
out at further ranges(such as 400yards). I believe that a 270 Is not as versatile, BUt that doesn't make it an inferior calibre. Sure you can get a Heavy bullet for the 30-06, But for what Most of the population hunts the 270 is not only sufficient but in my experience Performs exempluary to larger heavy calibres.

The 270 Winchester does not deliver as much downrange energy as a 30-06, given optimal loads for both. However, it is powerful enough to cleanly harvest all Western game, given proper bullet selection. The 30-06 is more potent than the 270.

On the other hand, Remington's Big 7 beats both of these rounds in the long range arena, shooting faster and flatter than a 270 and hitting harder than a 30-06.
