.243 WSSM

I have recently been doing a good amount of coyote hunting and have been using a .22 MAG. I am looking at getting something with a little more reach and knockdown than a .22 caliber. I have been in the internet looking at ballistics and i have noticed the .243 WSSM. What do you think, is this more "bang" than i need for coyotes? What calibers do you use for small game (varmints)?

22-250 would be more practical. 6mm calibers, 25-06, 260 Remington. Good medicine.

Those are good yote rounds. Another good round is the .223. It's almost perfect for song dogs. It won't shoot as flat as that .243 WSSM, but it does nicely, and ammo is cheaper!

I HAVE JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A 223 WSSM JUST FOR COYOTES AND GROUNDHOGS. HAVE NOT HAD A CHANCE TO SHOOT ANYTHING BUT TARGETS IN THE SIGHTING IN PROCESS. I WILL SAY THIS. THEY ARE FAST,,SUPER FAST. YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK INTO THE NEW RUGER 204 WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE MARKET AS OF MARCH 1ST. ALTHOUGH I HAVEANT SEEN IT YET. I KNOW THE SUPPOSED SPEED ON IT IS 4225 FPS. JUST A THOUGHT. I WILL HAVE ONE OF THOSE SOON TO. GUESS I WOULD SAY I AM A FAST CALIBER BUFF. I LEARNED ABOUT THE 204 THROUGH MIDSOUTH SHOOTING SUPPLY WEB-SITE. TRY IT OUT. YOU WILL LIKE IT.

For true speed, 240 Weatherby Magnum all the way. Super-fast, super-flat, and it's barrel life is remarkable.
