221 Fireball

Could someone tell me if Remington is making 221 Fireball ammo? The reason I asked this is because of this years Classic rifle is chambered for 221 Fireball.

I thought cavemen used clubs instead of old guns? Mr. Cool!

At any rate, I think remington has ceased making the 221 fireball ammo although I think a third party supplier has picked up where remington left off.

You can also pick up 221 stuff on http://www.ebay.com. In fact there is some good brass for sale there right now. Check it out

Remington DOES offer .221 ammo, in a 45 & 50 grain soft point. I own 2 fireballs, and GOD BLESS REMINGTON! A fun, accurate caliber!

Kgoody,

Has Remington always offered this ammo? My understanding was that they stopped making all 221 fireball ammo, then brought it back as a new product this year.

Remington lists it as a new product here:

Kgoody, are you sure the new ammo is soft-point, or that new v-max stuff?

remington catalogs it as core-lokt soft point, however, I found a box that was loaded with a 50 gr nosler ballistic tip. I checked into this with a major remington distributor in my area, and they claim that remington offers .221 ammo with 3 different bullet brands, however, they did not produce enough ammo, with a polycarbonate tip, to make a listing in their catalogs. As far as he knew, it was a "special order item" available to remington dealers, with a 2 case maximum order.I dunno, doesn't make a lotta sense, huh?

Thanks for the info kgoody, it sounds like Remington is confused about what they are producing for the fireball as I am about what they are selling for it.

Well the good thing is you can still get ammo I guess...
