22 or 17??

Thanks!

I'm currently considering a varmint caliber rifle and have many fond memories of teaching and shooting the M16 and its varients.

Hence, the 223 Rem is at the head of the pack; I love to shoot long distances with a bolt action and wouldn't mind an AR-15 semi-auto as well.

I probably wouldn't use either on yotes, so throwing out the yotes I'd go for the 17. If you do go for yotes with a 17 hmr, go with the heavier 20 grain XTP (hornady) or TNT (cci) ammo and call the yotes in close.

Everything else should be fine and you'll have less bullet drop to worry about than the 22 mag when you stretch it out to 200-250 yards.
