I have a Ruger 77/17 in .17HMR I love it. It has a bull barrel, laminated stock, target grey finish, and bushnell 3-12x44 AO scope. I bought it used and that's how it was set up.

I have a 22 mag and I love it. The .17 may be a bit light for the yotes. For squirrels and bunnies you can't go wrong with either.

In my humble opinion the .17 was and is just a marketing tool. Something to sell, The bullet is too light ,17 grains, drifts like hell, no energy and couldn't come close to the .22 mag or even the .22 long rifle.
50 grains of bullet out of a 22 mag isthree times that of a .17...No comparison what-so-ever !

lol, ok Thats the basic idea i was thinking also, they may be fast but dont hit hard like a 22 mag. i will likely get a 22 mag ruger 77 with a 4x scope, my friend has one and we use it all the time for squerills, rabitts, and chikens. And n e other varmints. Including coyotes sometimes.

Just a word of Caution::

I have a Marlin 25M (22 mag) and the safety is the opposite to most every rife.
FORWARD is SAFE

BACK is FIRE

I have no idea why MARLIN set the safety this way or if it is common to all their models.. It is however a very accurate,no frills 22 mag repeater(clip).

I have the Savage 93G: http://www.savagearms.com/93g.htm. It has been an excelleant firearm. The trigger needed some smoothing out which was done fairly easily by intensive cleaning and sparse lubing. It is the only rifle I have that doesn't have a Leupold on it. This setup has a Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4x32mm and it has worked very well although it is not subject to much recoil. I use it mostly for squirrel and cottontail with the occasional yote hunt thrown in. My usual yote rifle is a Remington 700 BDL with a Hart heavy barrel in .220 swift.
