You are gonna hear this a lot, if you want to both predator and deer/antelope with one rifle get a 243. A 22-250 can do it (if legal in your state) but it has to be precise shot placement and range limited due to loss of killing power further out. A 243 would be better.

Cheers

What kind of deer are we talking about ? How long of a shot ? I would say that if you were shooting a blacktail or eastern whitetail size deer out of a tree stand at 0 to 150 yards then go for it. But if you want to shoot a big wide mulie across a canyon or some thick neck heartland buck then it's a no go. If you are going to do it , I suggest you use a good bullet. The 60 grain partition is the bullet I 'm going to shoot out of my encore pistol.

Use a Swift, Nosler Partition or Barnes X bullet, max velocity and it will do just fine for deer and antelope. I would be hesitant on long shots and large deer like mulies and whitetails.

Welcome to BGH.

When you start taking 22's to big game, it is all about the bullet. Were I to do it, I won't, I would look at something loke that 53gr TSX. I have no idea how it would work on coyotes tho. Probably kill them very dead or maybe just shoot a hole thru them. ????

The deer would have to be within a 100, and I only punch it through the ribs. The only deer we have are whitetail and I would only shoot if it were big and like I said close.Would like to here if anyone has taken one with a 22-250 and how well it worked.

If your gonna shoot it close, even more use for the premium bullet. The closer it is the higher the velocity the more likely the bullet will fail.
