2012 NM Mule Deer Hunt

Once again I hunted New Mexico's unit 30 for deer during this year's muzzleloader season.  Thumbs up

The hunt was unsuccesful but I still had a great time. I hunted the first three days on my own and I then moved over to Rwdycwby's camp. We gave it our best but we were not able to connect with any deer. I did see some does and some coyotes.

Saw lots of sign, but no

Saw lots of sign, but no deer.  I was out for about 5 hours, but it was almost 90 degrees when I left.  Can't stand to hunt in that heat, just doesn't seem right.  Heck, it's gonne be 40 with a "winter mix" of snow and rain when I go to Vermont in a week and a half.  That's more like it..... lol

Sounds about like our hunt in

Sounds about like our hunt in 30. The first 2 days had the grand kids and son-in-law the next 3 the son & I hunted hard. Over the hunt we saw about 35 does 1small buck but I'd left the gun in the truck since the canyon I was looking in I don't think I'd of shot anyway. On Tuesday morning we saw 16 head of Barbary sheep and the big ram was around 30" way cool. Didn't see any coyotes or even hear any. 1fox after dark. dispite no deer we all had a great time.

Always next year

Congrats on a great hunt even though you did not take a deer ! Some of my favorite hunts was with family or good friends. Good times !
