2010 Scouting Report Part 2

I just came back from the Gila National Forest where I'll be conducting my deer and elk hunts this year.

Deer-Did not see any big bucks but I did see lots of deer.

Elk- No sighting of elk this time and not a single bugle. I did find elk sign and a couple of rubs in the area that I was planning on hunting. Thumbs up

Here are some pics of the elk hunting area and some of the deer that I saw.

That is an awesome area.

That is an awesome area. Thanks for posting. Those are some pretty tasty looking does! Good luck on the hunt and you are going to have to keep us posted on how things work out. I have read a lot about the Gila but don't think I'll ever be able to hunt it so it will be nice living it through you. Go out there and take it to them!

Looks like a great place to hunt by seeing those pictures.  I like the little "park" you are standing in...also a nice little deer herd there...and good eating.

Looks like you found everything you need to have a successful hunt!  You found the does and we all know what that means.  The bucks will find them also Dancing .  You also found a nice rub which can only mean one thing!  Beautiful country by the way!  I'm looking forward to reading of your success.  Good luck and be safe!!!

Some great photos.  You may

Some great photos.  You may not have heard any elk, but the rub isn't too old, so they are in that area.

Best of luck to you.  I can't wait to hear the stories!!!!

17 more days 'till the NM

17 more days 'till the NM second rifle season. I'll keep you all updated. Right now I'm still studying my maps and getting to know the area.

My plan is to go deep in the woods, as far awy from the roads as I can and just hunt hard. Thumbs up
