2007 bear hunt

FK
Anything that smells sweet will work. Not sure hanging it on stand with you as a cover scent is all that great of an idea tho Think . You don't really want to be the bait here.

I have tryed calling a couple of times. I have had no success but in all honesty have not put my time in doing it. Part of the reason is the info that I have read on the subject says that a sow with cubs will leave the cubs to come in to investigate the call. Don't know if this is true or not? I have shot sows before (shot one this year) but I always try to make sure the bear I am about to take dosent have cubs with it.

Our season starts on Aug 27 so i'll be out there soon laying bait's. Bait site's already established in spring so it won't take long for them to hit. As some of you know I do a lot of guiding for outfitters in Northern Manitoba. I have picked up a lot of tip's and tricks over the years to get bears in. Here's an inexpensive tip i'll share with you. This is when you are going to first start baiting and to draw others in once you're site is established.
It costs about 93 cents per bait site and lasts almost 2 weeks in the elements. It's
a GEL BATHROOM FRESHNER. They come in a plastic casing that you twist open. I buy vanillia and strawberry only. I put my bait in the barrel or tires depending on my site and look for sapling about 15 feet high and open up the freshner, tie a rope around it the middle of the gel and onto the top of the sapling and gently let the sapling up.
They are great to use in you're tree stand as well as you are high up and it acts like a cover scent.
This is where I got the Idea for the gel bathroom freshner
F.K.

The only thing I can't figure out is when I buy 15 or more of them at once at the store, I get a lot of strange looks from people. lol
