Remington 30-06 Woodsmaster and a 180gr Remington Core-Lokt took her one shot she dropped about 5 feet away. Then I cleaned her out and we loaded her in a tarp and through her in the back of my jeep.

Great story, great bear. Glad to hear you had such a great hunt. This will be the first year since '93 I'm not bear hunting. Normally 3 of us go up and we do great. This year my one buddy decided he didn't like his job and got a new one and my other buddy decided he didn't like his wife and got a new one. Anyway I'm sittin' this year out and it's killing me. Can't wait until next year. I miss the smell of the bait sites.

I know what your saying, but it's tough to do a bear hunt on my own when the area I'm hunting is 5hrs away. I'm a southern boy and have to travel about 4hrs before I'm in what I consider "good" bear country. Trust me I"ve considered it but it's nice to have someone to split the taveling time and gas cost with. Having to drive through Toronto every weekend to check and reload the baits is a nighmare. That being said, this year I was hoping to take my 13th bear with the bow. Maybe 13 is an unlucky number............naaa, the way I'm lookin' at it, the bear I would have shot this year wil be 1yr. older and 1yr. bigger next year. Can't wait. Also just picked up a remington semi. Has yours been good to you? I guess yours is 30/06, the one I picked up off a buddy is a.308. Neat little rifle. Anything I should know about them or is yours pretty reliable?
