2006 Elk Season

Here are some pictures from this years elk hunting. We were hunting in Colorado unit 11 during the third season. We had a total of 8 licenses and were lucky enough to fill 5 of them. Enjoy the pictures.

We hunt Pinyon Ridge. What makes this area good for us and not so good for other hunters is that we strap on the LPC's (Leather Personnel Carriers) and get away from other hunters. The roads were choked with 4 wheelers and trucks, but we saw 0 other hunters where we hunted. Good luck to you Wolff.

congrats!

Nice Elk! I just got back from our 3rd season hunt in unit 12 near Meeker. Tough hunting year for us. Four guys, six tags, no elk. Three out of four of us had our chances but blew it. Hunting dark timber to get away from the crowds meant our chances were all at less than 25 yds. I had two chances at cows but it just didn't pan out. One of our guys just about ran smack into a 5 X 3 bull that turned tail and ran and then one of our "neighbors" shot him. I'm glad your hunt went better than ours. Congratulations again!

Way to go Thumbs up

Good looking bull.
5 elk will require some freezer space even if you split it 8 ways.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! It was an awesome year, I was really excited that my buddy was able to get his first elk and I got to be part of the whole thing. I'm already thinking about how we will be working the area during next years hunt. Things are getting better now that we have hunted the area for a few years now and everyone is fairly well familiarized with the lay of the land.
Merry Christmas everyone!
