1st ever cougar search being planned

With an ever increasing number of credible mountain lion sightings in Pennsylvania, I think its time to conduct a major field investigation as soon as the 1st snowfall hits the area.

The objective of this massive field project is to locate new evidence to accompany what has already been found at several sites around the state.

Since forest foilage would create havoc at the present time, a herd of elephants could cross many areas & state wildlfie officials wouldn't even be able to find their tracks.

So I suggest we await the weekend after the 1st 3-inch snowfall to undertake such a project...are there anyone out there, who is NOT a skeptic, who would like to join in this "evidence search project"....as skeptics will not be allowed, they are always negative on this very positive subject.

With WILD mountain lions NOT considered dangerous to humans, I would ask who joins the search to leave their WMD home. Contact us at epuma@beaconnet.net or send us a message thru this site, if you plan on being part of this 1st ever search for big cat evidence in the Keystone State.

new mountain lion sightings at Stevenson Dam

On August 29th, a retired NY DEC officer and his wife were visiting friends in the Costello Area of Potter Co, Pa. After the friends suggested a fishing trip for the day, the 4 of them headed to Stevenson Dam off of Rte 872 in Cameron County.

While fishing, all heard a terrifying scream emit from nearby woods. Instantly knowing what animal made the scream, the 4 friends began looking around.

On oppisite shoreline, they observed a large Light Brown animal stooped down drinking from edge of reservoir. Carefully taking visual notes, they rapidly concluded the animal was an adult mountain lion.

After taking its fill, the mountain lion rose up & quietly disappeared into adjoining woods.

Ironically on Aug 17th, a Driftwood Volunteer Firefighter reported to us, of seeing a large cougar bound across State Route 872 in vicinity of Stevenson Dam. He was positive the animal was a cougar, as his wife works at the Grand Canyon Zoo near Wellsboro. He has visited their cougar's display on occasions when taking their children or school children on a tour of that zoo.

Does anyone on this forum know of the area or of other sighting reports??
