Just shot my first Antalope. I waited six years for the rifel tag. I only got to go a few times. It was my third day, the 18th of Oct. My fiance and I left early that morning, we kept finding does, no bucs. The first two time we had gone everything was on posted land. Today was differnt. everything was on plot or non-posted land it was exciting. We made our first stop of the morning after driving for about two hours. It proved to be the only stop we would have to make. I got out of the vehicle, stepped over the fence, and walked on over to the first hill. It was about threehundread yards, and yes it was on plot land. When I got to the top of the hill I had seen nothing but tall grass. I knew that this was not Antalope country, but I had seen one on this land two weeks earlier. So I took a chance. Another five minutes into the walk I spooked three Whitetail does. I stopped to go over in my head what I should do next. I had decided to not waste any time, and just make a big loop back to the vehicle where Brittnie my Fiance was waiting. See she waits in the car for me because we are expecting our first child together, A baby boy. She is do any day now. I am a happy camper, or should I say hunter!!. I am sure glad I decided to take that loop, because over the next hill he lay. An antalope buck. Not the biggest one in the world, but when you wait as long as I did you don't care. He did not see me so I tried to get closer. I got to 200 yards or so and he spotted me. He than stood up and walked a few steps, I shot he went down and my heat pounded with energy and joy. It only took me about thirty minutes to get him back to the car. Brittnie was excited, so was I. I scored my trophy later that day he scores 58 inches. He will go on my wall. I can't lie I did not think I would get my antalope just because of all the posted land. I will have pics in a few days.
