I was wondering, are most .17 HMRs quite? Because there are some pesky rodents outside of my house that keep chewing up our trampoline and i dont want to disturb any neighbors gettin rid of em. So are they very quite or loud?
No, not quiet at all.
There are pellet rifles available that have velocities of 1100-1200 fps. That is what you want for "stealth mode" ![]()
If you have a 22 rifle that shoots shorts or longs (not long rifle), CCI has a cartridge called the CB short or long that is about as noisy as a pellet gun and works well(from personal experience.) The squirrels outside my house would tell you the same but they are dead!

I have a Gamo pellet gun that shoots about 1000fps and does a great job on the squirells. We live on a private lake with close neighbors and a by-law that doesn't allow firearms to be discharged so this gun was a great solution to the pest , at least until my 4 year old daughter became attached to them.
,) But what she doesn't know won't hurt her, I just have to be a little more stealthy
redrider, do you have a scope on your pellet gun?
No............. I'm able to get fairly close to these critters, but wouldn't be a bad idea.
my guess would be that Reds has a groved receiver for tip-Off(22 cal) mounts. Most of the higher velocities air rifles are
ChesterGolf is right too, those CB shorts are pretty quiet..
Yea. CB's are dandy for pest control!

That's pretty cool. Are they expensive? Easy to find?
They are probably about twice the cost of regular 22 ammo and come in a 100 piece pack. They should be easy to find if you have any decent gun shops or even walmart around you.

But they DON'T MAKE THEM FOR THE .22LR?
