With cool to cold weather, the Ohio turkey harvest was down for the spring turkey hunt. Later in the season numbers were higher, but the first week and youth season were way down. A 21% decrease in numbers statewide. It is uncertain whether this will have an effect on the fall turkey hunt. The late season cold weather may impact the turkey hatch, "That will determine poult survival which in turn will help determine the fall harvest." There may be older birds, 3 years and up that will be harvested in the fall season according to The News-Herald.
