Residents of Squamish Receive Cougar Warning

A cougar made a meal out of a Squamish resident's dog, and has been seen repeatedly in the area. The District of Squamish issued a cougar warning, so that residents are aware of the possible danger.

The district has closed the Stawamus River Dyke trail in order to reduce risk of any human-cougar interactions.

Residents are urged to keep pets on their leash, keep them indoors, and to be cautious and remain alert when on trails. If a cougar is spotted residents should call the Conservation Office at 1-877-952-7277 or #7277 from a cellphone. From The Province.
